I gave this book 3 stars because I couldn't give it 2.5. The story is okay even though I felt like I was reading a teenager's book. And apparently the author bought the large economy size box of commas because she used them everywhere. The spelling, grammatical and punctuation errors are throughout the entire book. This is so not an erotic paranormal romance, way too cheesy for that. It's more like the high school cheerleader's diary. At least it was under a dollar. I must say, I had to force myself to finish this book and that very rarely happens to me.
Another great read from Melanie James found myself laughing in a good number of spots - had to do it quietly while I was on the bus reading too.

Following on from where Accidentally Leigh end, Leigh is before the witch's council. Thankful its a small fee to be paid but she gets a bad feeling from them. She is also assigned Gertie to teacher her to be a witch, thankful they get on together like a house on fire. Leigh and Hunter continue with their romance but given the mishaps that happen around her especially when magic is used will he be willing to stick around for the long haul. Still under a spell Derek and Luke are still acting crazy Kelly and Lindsey, can Leigh remove the spell and will the guys still be interested in the girls after all that has happened to them. Meanwhile the council wants Leigh to write a special story which includes bring back to life Vlad the vampire back to life but for what purpose.

"Serious Leigh" by Melanie James continues the story that started in the first novel of the series, "Accidental Leigh." Elementary school teacher, Leigh, is on her summer break and looking to do a bit of writing. However, what she types starts to come to happen in real life, but not always in the way she had hoped. When the Witches Union finds out about Leigh's use of magic, they summon her to New Orleans for a meeting. Thrown into a world of magic and witches, Leigh has to navigate the backlash of her spells along with finding her groove as a witch. Overall, liked this series. Leigh gets herself into some strange situations that can only be overcome by doing some rewrites. James keeps things interesting and funny while creating a unique storyline.
I just loved this book. I finished it in one night again just like the first one. While I loved the first book, this one was even better, and more funny. Especially when you bring in another crazy witch. The way all the girls just cling to her, and attempt to show her the ropes is the best. I could not quit laughing at all the craziness she can get into without even trying really hard. I can't wait for the next one. Great job Melanie James)
This is such a fun series! I barely finished reading book one that I grabbed the next one and started reading. There are many laugh-out-loud moments with this witch in training. Leigh, her cursed writing desk and her very familiar, marvelous cat, Luna, find ways to have adventures no one had thought would happen in the life of an author. Writing after all is a lonely, boring life. Right? Not for this newbie witch.

These are quick reads but don't feel like short stories. They are layered with full characters and a world that melds the real, current world with a few fantasy yet historic realms thrown in. Each book is based on the last but has its own personality.

I picked up the first book and this book for free. Now I have to find a few pennies ($2.99) to get the next book, so it may take a while before I get to read the rest of the series. But I will after the move is completed and I am bored--probably in the coming winter. That will add some light to my frozen life ahead.

This is the second book in the Literal Leigh Series. You must read the first book, Accidental Leigh, before this one to have a good understanding of what is going on. This was a quick and very funny read. It even has a nice little saucy scene!

This book starts off with Leigh finding herself in a little hot water with the Witches Union. She's been tasked to write a very specific story with her magic desk. She needs to bring to life a hybrid werewolf/vampire hybrid, and she only has a limited time in which to create it. She has also been assigned a young, inexperienced apprentice named Gertie to help her. Although she's still green, she's a total sweetheart with a heart of gold. To top off the short deadline she's facing, she also has to deal with the mishaps she's created for her friends and family, while trying to sneak in time with her new flame, Hunter.
This little story is packed with plenty of humor, her 'special brownie' bit being one of many incidents. The characters are well developed and relatable. Once I started this book, I couldn't put it down. I read it in one sitting, and it only took me a few hours from start to finish. I look forward to reading the next book in this fabulous series!
Melanie has done it again!!! Another humerous adventure for Leigh and her best friends Lindsey and Kelly. I love how they take everything with a grain of salt once they all meet Gertie. Not sure I would be so easy going if I were to find out my best friend has all these witch powers and becomes friends with more witches. Gertie is great. Sure not your normal run of the mill person knowing that she has been frozen for over 100 years and all the crazy things that Gertie has done in her past but none the less so easy to fall in love with. Love her plantation in Lousiana. How is Leigh going to write the story for the witches union? Nothing but surpirses!!! I don't like going into to much detail so pick up this book and check it out. You won't be disappointed!!!
